I think understanding how information is manipulated in social media sites is the key to figuring out how powerful people keep their plans in secret. This video is about how huge media sites like Facebook are manipulated.

It's a former Facebook executive talking about the way he and others basically sought to destroy the level of discourse online by turning people into dopamine addicts. I think he starts talking about the subject around the 21 minute mark.

Great post. I used to think the Internet could help bring people together, but now it seems it's just used as a tool to divide people.

It's very strange; in the real world conflicts often happen over limited space, but on the Internet there is theoretically infinite space for everyone. However there is still an incredible amount of hostility, seemingly even more than IRL.

(Btw I'm not sure if I'm shadowbanned, could you respond to this comment if you can see it? Thanks)

You are not shadowbanned, which I don't believe is even a thing here, although I'm just a lowly mod. But since you bring it up, you're probably from that other place, and will appreciate RES for saidit.

Thanks! I wasn't getting any engagement on my posts and I wasn't sure if they weren't being seen or were just boring, lol

There was a whole lotta drama in the first half of the year, and many have fled. u/d3rr is the only admin remaining, having taken the wheel after the tranny admin was demoted, another left, and magnora7 (owner/founder) went out for cigarettes and hasn't yet returned.

M7 has starting paying the bills on time, though, but it remains to be seen what will actually happen with saidit. If I could, I'd vote for d3rr to officially take over operations, as he's level headed and doing a great job holding the place together.

Tbf, m7 was caught in that Texas ice storm, and had some critical family issues going on. But he got a bit overwrought a few times and stirred up more drama than needed.

If you sort by s/all/comments, you'll see where the action is.

There are some relatively recent reddit refugee subs that stayed off of s/all, that mostly have to do with being against tranny stuff.

s/debatealtright was recently re-added to s/all by d3rr, and is one of the most active subs.

Anyway, that's my brief welcome speech and orientation. Cheers.

Wow, thanks for the rundown. I've been lurking Saidit on-and-off for probably a few years, and I recognize a lot of the big names, but I didn't know that so much drama had happened recently.

I'm almost tempted to launch into a 10,000 character overview of the 2021 saidit events, but maybe we can get u/JasonCarswell to do it, as he was involved, and a casualty at one point. He and the semi-aquatic mammal survived, but RIP to bobbobbybob.

Jason, I'll send you a bunch of paragraphs if you're interested in creating a sort of mini-history.

Everything was great before the Internet and Smartphones ruined it.
