Since Guillain-Barré Syndrome is not contagious and cannot spread from person to person, it's not clear what this 90 day "national emergency" can do.

The article highlights that it's onset may follow a variety of infections and/or the COVID vaccine, so it kind of makes sense that a generic 'emergency' is announced just to cover their ass in case it turns out it's easily preventable which would embarrass them.

Guillain-Barre syndrome is unrelated to COVID vaccines.

To say that Guillain-Barre syndrome is unrelated to COVID vaccines would be incorrect, it would be more correct to say that while studies have reported incidences where there may be causal link, there is not enough data to reach a solid conclusion. Only the Sith deal in absolutes, traitor to the Republic! 😄

This doesn't prove that the COVID vaccine holds no correlation with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. It doesn't even prove COVID saved any lives as the risk of COVID was so low in the first place, all it might prove is that the vaccine was non-fatal after administration for the majority of people. Besides, you're still 6.98billion off of your first claim.

I asked for one and you still haven't produced. Here's one to oppose you though. The flu vaccine is understood to have a small correlation with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, therefore it would not be any surprise than any other type of vaccines might also have some risk of onset following in some individuals.

Be honest, why are you such a simp for COVID vaccines?

It's illogical to believe there is zero risk based on selective statistics no more worthy of consideration than those you critique. The studies show some data, which doesn't demonstrate a solid conclusion. Your scientific method is flawed. If all science was simply brought to a halt because something is of low instance, we may not make many great technological advances. The only argument you have is you believe the COVID vaccine to be 110% harmless and godlike in its healing abilities, it's all bollocks mate, nobody cares.

This doesn't prove that the COVID vaccine holds no correlation with doesn't directly cause Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

What's a "generic emergency"? What are people supposed to do? Avoid going out of the home? Evacuate the cities and move to bomb shelters deep underground? What exactly are people supposed to do to prevent Guillain-Barré Syndrome during a state of emergency that they couldn't do during a regular time?

I think that the state of emergency probably has more to do with this than anything medical.

They're finding a cause. The state of emergency facilitates gathering data.

And how precisely does a state of emergency do that?

I'm pretty sure that this state of emergency has more to do with this and the Guillain-Barré Syndrome cases are just an excuse. But maybe I'm being too cynical about an unelected, unpopular and illegitimate government which took power illegally in a coup. I'm sure they actually have nothing but the best interests of their subjects "citizens" in mind.

And how precisely does a state of emergency do that?

The country's hospitals and medical centres are aware of it and prioritise reporting back to the Ministerio de Salud.

That's not a state of emergency under any definition of the term.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that Guillain-Barré Syndrome was already a notifiable illness, and even if it wasn't, you don't need a state of emergency to make it so on either a permanent or temporary basis.

Ah, so I take it Peru is unable to order immunoglobulin on an expedited basis unless they declare a state of emergency first? 🙄

There is a remarkable lack of English-language new sites explaining what this state of emergency actually means in practice. Aside from approving funds for the purchase of more immunoglobulin, what does this mean to the people actually living under this state of emergency? More lockdowns and compulsory medical tests like was done under the Covid state of emergency? Who knows?

The only report of a Peruvian state of emergency I can find that discusses the actual effects of the state of emergency is this article from Reuters with a single casual line about it suspending "certain rights, including the freedom of movement".

With Peru's illegitimate government being an American ally, mainstream propaganda outlets like Reuters don't usually go into too much detail about what is going on.
