It seems to me that the people most likely to be sexual criminals are the ones on both sides of the spectrum that are obsessed with sexual ideology - whether it be deviant transgenders or puritanical priests.

    I see the point you are making. Maybe... formerly puritanical, hypocritically puritanical? I am suggesting a correlation between overly repressive (or the opposite) attitudes about sex and outbursts of deviancy, and suggesting that ideologies that have obsessive and extreme sexual hang-ups of any sort might not be the healthiest.

      Yes, but literally nobody says 'puritanical' to mean someone is literally a Puritan when talking about modern people, as they haven't existed for hundreds of years. I was clearly using it in the other sense of the word that you can find in a dictionary

        The other direction? Because to me it seems like it's been swinging pretty hard toward cracking down on it for a long time.

        Fifty years ago child pornography was legal. Now Google uses AI to scan your photos and report you to the police. The category keeps expanding too. Used to be people thought child nudity was totally innocent as long as it wasn't sexual. Now people equate child nudity with child pornography in almost any situation. And then there's the whole issue with putting fictional cartoons into the same category. Heck recently a lot of are afraid to even say child pornography and keep inventing new abbreviations to use instead.
