Is there any way of corroborating any of this?

Does this seem like something Ukraine leadership would say?

Is there a precedence of these kinds of ridiculous Russian news media lies?

I don’t have a horse in this race and would normally say the same, but given that Ukraine is confirmed to be sending gore pics of dead russian soldiers to their families I really wouldn’t put it past them to do something like this

It's rumor spread by Russian propaganda. By contrast with the attrocities committed by Russians, it's nothing. Russian propagandists are likely thinking this because they are doing the same. (They're also genociding 10s of thousands of Ukrainians!)
