Not many see things so clearly... Except I have long thought that there is no stopping this once it starts except complete collapse.

Just look at Mungers UCSB dorms if you want to see what's in store. Or how retirement age and worker life expectancy are becoming one and the same.

I'm reminded of Solaria in Asimov's "The Naked Sun" (Robot series, Book 2. He took the concept techno fetichism to its logical conclusion over 60 years ago.

What I did not anticipate was that the ultra wealthy Overclass would implement basically all of these very same ideas I once had, not with the goal of providing everyone on this planet with utopian material abundance, but with the goal of stripping people of every kind of sovereignty.

The Overclass is only interested in saving their own asses. The sooner the rest of us are out of the picture, the better.

The first time 'round when we had serfdom and feudal overlords, our feudal lords understood that their wealth 'trickled upwards' from their serfs. Without the serfs producing wealth, there was nothing for the lords to take. Lords measured their wealth by the number of serfs that their lands could support.

Our current crop of wannabe feudal lords seem to think their electronic 'money' is real and is all they need to be wealthy. They don't seem to realize that if they destroy their base of serfs, they will be poor, because nobody will be producing anything. And without a base of poor people to fight their wars, and especially the industrial base to build weapons, they won't be able to carry on their neo-colonialism and rape of the 'third world'.

In other words, they're morons. This is literally a case of the parasite intentionally killing the host, oblivious to the consequences.
