Reposted this message with permission from u/WandersFar:

I’ve been manually approving over 2k users at my sub over the last week. -.-

Then this morning we received a threat from the admin.

And an invitation to join lemmy at the same time. Passing along the info as it may be relevant to your interests…

Lemmy is a federated Reddit alternative that is decentralized. The analogy would be what Mastodon is to Twitter. There is no hierarchy, anyone can start a server, and all you need to do to create a community is register an account.

Like I did about an hour ago: https://lemmy.world/c/thegoodplace

You might considering creating a WotB mirror there, as it’s pretty hopping right now. I haven’t even announced it on r/TheGoodPlace yet and we’re already gaining subscribers.

And you don’t have to run your own server, which is what I mistakenly thought, and why I was reluctant to join until now. You can just join an existing one; I’m still learning my way around, but I think lemmy.world is the general purpose one, and where many subreddits have migrated.

If you need server space for hosting the sub I can probably help with that. I have access to servers and bandwidth at no cost.

I've been hearing more about this, but still have no idea what it is.

I finally managed to create an account there, took a while but from what WandersFar said I'm guessing they're being overwhelmed with subreddits trying to set up subs there. I still haven't been able to create a community for the same reason, will keep you posted.
