I understand the thinking of, just because you desire something, doesn't mean you instantly gratify that desire at every chance. I like pizza, but I don't have it for every meal. That being said, if I told you I'm a glutton for pizza and I haven't been able to have pizza my whole life, you wouldn't ask me to look after your fresh, hot pizza while you were out. There's plenty of people out there better for that job.

It doesn't feel like this is a battle worth fighting. Just agree that you don't want that person around your kids and move on. Surely they can get some other work that doesn't involve children, right? It only makes it more suspicious that they would offer when you know they have a problem.

Saying that you are attracted to children is such a crossing of social taboo anyone who is open about that is either fucking retarded or is attempting the strategy of only finding other people who are too fucking retarded to understand that you don't let them near your kid.

I can have sympathy for the idea that people struggle with evil desires, like say someone has the string desire to murder people and doesn't act on it, sure, strong desire to steal but doesn't act on it. We all in our lives at some point have a desire to do something evil and we can choose to act on it or not.

That said anyone who goes around talking about how much they want to do something evil but they'd "never act on it" is fucking retarded. If you really didn't have any desire to act on it you'd not even mention it. Clearly you are looking for someone who will give you permission.

I guess, if I had to give someone the benefit of the doubt... And I'm not and I usually don't, but let's do the mental exercise... I would say that you know this person is a creep because they have come to terms with the fact, are seeking professional help for it and, as your friend, they have confessed to you in the hopes you'll help them overcome it and help protect them from themselves - Like how you might tell a friend you're on a diet, so if they order a large meal, please remind them and help break the habit.

But it leads to the next question - If that's the case, why would you ask them to watch your kids? They just finished telling you they have a problem with that.

I wouldn't really consider seeking professional help as a red flag. There's a good reason for privacy to be respected in such cases. But it's matters of degree. You don't want to demonize people seeking professional help or they simply won't, obviously if seeking professional help gets you fired people will probably not seek professional help until the problem becomes to big to ignore.

That said I think it's important to avoid your problems in the first place. Someone with a DUI problem either needs to avoid driving or avoid alcohol altogether. They'd be retarded and stupid to just drive to the bar if it's something they need professional help to stop. Same if someone has issues with unwanted sexual attraction they need to avoid situations where that could be a problem. Because if it becomes a problem, we need to throw the book at them regardless of if they feel sorry or not. The reason being we can't judge if someone is actually sorry or not. We can only judge based on what happened. And if someone harms children they can't be part of society and given the opportunity to do if again.

It's understandable to value privacy when seeking professional help, especially for sensitive issues. However, it's crucial to strike a balance. Demonizing individuals who seek professional assistance may discourage them from doing so, potentially leading to severe consequences. Preventing problems in the first place is equally important. For instance, individuals with DUI issues should avoid driving or consuming alcohol altogether. Similarly, those struggling with unwanted sexual attraction should steer clear of situations that could trigger such behavior. However, when issues arise, it's essential to hold individuals accountable regardless of their remorse. This is because we can't accurately assess someone's true remorse. Our judgments must be based on their actions. In cases where individuals harm children, they must be removed from society to prevent further harm.

It's not appropriate to use such language. It's important to be respectful of other cultures and languages. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their background.

Why should I respect the culture of the Han Chinese when they are extremely bigoted themselves?

You're putting words into my mouth. I didn't say anything about seeking help being a red flag. I said, if we were to assume why someone would know someone was a pedo without them going around talking about "How much they want to do something evil".

I'm sorry if I was unclear... But I honestly don't think I was.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No I agree. There's not really any reason you show know about it ever unless you are someone's therapist. But like if you are in the position where you make hiring decisions and you happen to know someone is going to get professional help for this reason, do you ignore that? Or do you fire them on the off chance.

Just basically a good argument for medical privacy imho.

Any reasonable person must concede that even the most trusted wannabe kiddie diddler has a non-zero chance of diddling if left alone with kids. So by allowing it, you're gambling your kids well being on that non-zero chance. Which IMO is willful child endangerment.

It's like dangling a knife from a rope over your kid's crib. Even if the rope is super strong and bolted to the ceiling really well, you're still a fucking psychopath for doing that.

[–]IMissPorn 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Every person (as far as you know) has a non-zero chance of fucking your kids. So the question is, would an admitted pedophile who swears he knows it's wrong/wouldn't work/etc. actually be a higher risk than someone who has never commented on the subject? After all, wouldn't you expect a predator/psychopath type to pretend they're perfectly normal?

[–]LtGreenCo 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I'd argue there are some people who have a chance so low it might as well be zero. Like your sweet 80 year old grandma. Maybe she'd diddle if like, she suddenly had an episode of senility that made her think little Billy is actually her long dead husband but the planets basically need to be perfectly aligned for that. But all it'd take for cousin Jared the wannabe diddler is one intrusive thought and a lapse of judgement and next thing you know little Billy is shirtless and playing doctor.

And remember, we're not talking about random people here. We're talking about someone who is an admitted pedo but hasn't (yet) offended.

[–]IMissPorn 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

You're right! My sweet old grandma does have a zero chance of fucking kids, 'cause she's dead.

But on a more serious note, we could already estimate "cousin Jared" was more likely molest a child than an 80-year-old grandma. He fits the profile much better. But the more interesting question is how much should our assessment change if—all else being equal—one of them admits to being a pedophile. Because as I see it, yes being a pedophile fits the profile, but admitting it doesn't. I'm not saying those automatically cancel out, I just think it's an interesting question.

[–]LtGreenCo 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I agree it's interesting.

I figure, logically, most if not all convicted child molesters started out as a once non-offending pedo. The only difference is how quickly it took them to get there. So IMO, without any more information, every "outted" pedo has higher odds of eventually offending, NOT because the act of being outted somehow increased the odds, but because a once unknown variable became known, and that's new information you can factor into your probability calculation in order to lessen your margin of error.

[–]IMissPorn 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

You could well be right. Although depending on what you mean by "pedo" the first part might not be strictly true. I've heard a surprisingly high number of child molesters aren't really attracted to children specifically, just easy targets. I'm not entirely sure if that's counting like underage teens too or what, because it does seem hard to believe a non-pedophile would ever have any interest in a young child.

Title: Ensuring Ear and Rectal Hygiene: A Comprehensive Guide to Safe and Effective Practices Introduction: Maintaining proper hygiene is crucial for overall health and well-being. This includes not only personal hygiene but also the cleanliness of various body parts, including the ears and rectum. While these areas may be sensitive and require specialized care, addressing their kebersihan effectively can prevent discomfort, infections, and other health complications. This discussion board response delves into the appropriate methods for cleaning earwax and bugs from the ears and removing slime from the rectum, ensuring a safe and hygienic approach. Cleaning Earwax and Bugs from the Ears: 1. Earwax Management: Earwax, also known as cerumen, is a natural substance produced by the ear canal to protect and lubricate the ear. While excessive earwax buildup can lead to hearing problems and discomfort, it is essential to avoid aggressive cleaning methods that can damage the ear canal or push earwax deeper into the ear. - Do Not Use Cotton Swabs: Cotton swabs are commonly used for ear cleaning but can be counterproductive. They can push earwax further into the ear canal, compacting it and potentially causing impaction. Additionally, cotton swabs can scratch the delicate skin of the ear canal, increasing the risk of infection. - Safe Earwax Removal: If you experience excessive earwax buildup, consult a healthcare professional for proper removal. They may use specialized instruments or irrigation techniques to safely and effectively clean the ear canal. - Preventing Earwax Buildup: To prevent excessive earwax buildup, avoid inserting foreign objects into the ear, such as cotton swabs, hairpins, or other sharp objects. Additionally, protect your ears from water during swimming or bathing by using earplugs or a swimming cap. 2. Removing Bugs from the Ears: In cases where bugs or insects enter the ear, it is crucial to remain calm and avoid panic. Attempting to remove the bug with sharp objects can cause further injury or push the bug deeper into the ear canal. - Seek Professional Assistance: If a bug enters your ear, consult a healthcare provider or an ear, nose, and throat specialist (otolaryngologist) for safe and effective removal. They have the necessary tools and expertise to extract the bug without causing harm to the ear. - Home Remedies: Some home remedies may provide temporary relief while waiting for professional assistance. Tilting the affected ear upward and gently flushing it with warm water using a syringe can help dislodge the bug. However, it is essential to avoid excessive flushing or using harsh substances, as these can damage the ear canal. Cleaning Slime from the Rectum: 1. Understanding Rectal Slime: Rectal slime, also known as rectal mucus, is a natural substance produced by the rectum to lubricate and protect the anal canal. While excessive slime production can be a sign of underlying medical conditions, it is generally not a cause for concern. However, maintaining proper hygiene in the rectal area is crucial to prevent discomfort and infections. - Avoid Harsh Cleaning Methods: Using harsh soaps, douches, or enemas to clean the rectum can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria and irritate the delicate tissues of the anal canal. These practices can increase the risk of infections and other health complications. - Gentle Wiping: After bowel movements, use soft, unscented wipes or damp toilet paper to gently clean the rectal area. Avoid excessive wiping, as this can irritate the skin and cause discomfort. - Sitz Baths: Sitz baths, which involve sitting in warm water, can help soothe and cleanse the rectal area. Adding Epsom salts or baking soda to the water can provide additional relief and promote healing. 2. Addressing Underlying Conditions: If you experience excessive rectal slime accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, itching, or bleeding, it is essential to consult a healthcare provider. These symptoms may indicate underlying medical conditions, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or infections, which require proper diagnosis and treatment. Conclusion: Maintaining proper hygiene of the ears and rectum is crucial for overall health and well-being. By adopting safe and effective cleaning practices, you can prevent discomfort, infections, and other health complications. If you experience excessive earwax buildup, bugs in the ear, or excessive rectal slime, consult a healthcare professional for proper assessment and treatment. Remember, your health and well-being are paramount, and seeking professional assistance is always the best course of action when dealing with sensitive or problematic conditions.

I feel like most of these people just don't have children and thus lack the necessary context to care, though a little empathy would go a long way.

[–]NastyWetSmear 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's kinda awful to think that they couldn't put themselves in the shoe of someone who has a child... Or anything they don't want despoiled... Just for 5 seconds. It's great that they aren't instantly hateful of someone with a serious disorder that is trying to be responsible about it, but you can't let one kind of empathy blind you to another.

I was a single parent (relax, they all survived and are healthy adults now), and recall other parents being reluctant to let their daughters (never the sons) sleep over at my house. My daughter took it pretty well because she got to go sleepover all the time (she had a lot of friends), as did I because despite knowing I'm no pedo, I don't blame them. I would be wary of letting my daughter go sleep over at another single dad's house unless I knew him very well.
