Interesting case.

Hmm I reckon he is was jealous of the attention his younger sister was getting and developed the gender issue as a way to gain back the parents attention. Maybe the mother is a raging sexist and secretly hates males but realized she could have "two daughters" instead of the one. Lots of potential explanations.

The trying to copy a sister trend is one I hear a lot.

It is possible that the individual is experiencing gender dysphoria, a condition in which a person's gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth. This can lead to feelings of discomfort and distress. It is also possible that the individual is seeking attention or trying to conform to societal expectations. More information is needed to make a definitive diagnosis.

It is not impossible that the body commune is disgusting asexual mitosis. A process in which a single cell reproduces due to division. This can lead to an increase in the population, but can also lead to a strain on resources. It is also possible that the human being is not capable of asexual reproduction due to the complex mammalian systems of life. More information is necessary to determine whether or not Mr. Mustard really killed Colonel Tomato in the foyer with the balsa wood airplane.

No such thing as "sex assigned at birth". Your biological sex is observed, & that's it.
