I consider JDRF to be a detriment to collective building among diabetics namely because it operates from the medical/tragedy model of disability situating diabetes as a condition that needs to be contained and cured, when this is not what most diabetics, particularly in the United States, have been asking for.

The world is made a poorer place for the fact that you aren't illiterate, because this has to be the most self-indulgent, utterly worthless, and all-around disgusting waste of words that I've seen or heard over the entire year of 2023. I know diabetics, I have two in my immediate family, and what they want foremost is a fucking cure. It's not some fucking wonderland of being "differently abled" that you gas on about, and that you would use it as a platform for your attempt to climb into the spotlight and spout your depraved IdPol bullshit leaves me absolutely seething.

SK Sabada is a white, non-binary, mad, disabled PhD student in gender, feminist, and women’s studies at York University. Their research focuses on the critical intimacies of death and dying at the intersections of queer theory, mad studies, disability studies, trans studies, and performance studies.

I don't know even know where to start with that bio--I hit Google to find out more about this muppet--but it does sure explain a lot about that drivel that I quoted.

on edit: I take that back: theater degrees teach you how to, y'know, ACT: these departments are just glorified op-ed mills and literally the only job you can get is becoming a professor of how bad you've had it in life, and should not be counted among the humanities or the social sciences--honorary degrees only (English is pushing it, but even if your work's just decades of "how I feel about this poet" you still have the poems as actual primary material)

TL;DR: This is a fatass who doesn't like being told that she is responsible for her own health issues and instead used her essay to act offended that diabetes is a manageable disease instead of being treated as a disability. Her solution? Gibs.

Cripping? I was unfamiliar and thought they just misspelled "crippling." Nope. It's some woke bullshit jargon:

Using the terms “crip” and “cripping” is one way of “taking back” language and power from the people who and the institutions and systems that have used it historically (and, in some cases, presently) to harm and demean people with disabilities/disabled people, including certain at times “crippling” physical disabilities (like Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.). Language, control, and social power are thus asserted by people with disabilities/disabled people and our allies, who have the right to speak for ourselves and act on our own behalf.

Seriously, go fuck yourself if you use this language.
