Let's be real. Karen's coworkers were already well aware. They're just being polite out of fear that Karen will go to HR and have them fired.

I thought the joke was the other way around, that a woman who thinks of colors in simple terms must have a male brain.

I got the joke, though I don't know if the joke is poking fun at trannies or women or both. But my comment is tangential. "What if this scenario happened in real life?" We all know they'd have pegged him as a tranny on his first day the second he stepped into the office.

Fun fact: apparently, it IS true that women see more colour hues than men. Biological fact. Tell me again how gender is just a social construct and not a biological thing, when even -colours- are different depending on your sex.

I think it's been confirmed that women recognize more colors than men in studies. Whether or not that means that women actually see more colors than men I'm not sure. I always figured women just care more about colors so pay more attention to them where men don't really give a shit between "olive" and "green".

The general theory is that this harks back to when humans were wild animals: the female had to be good at spotting berries and not confusing them. It's one of the many differences in male and female brains.

Probably truth to that. I'm not sure though if the difference correlates with an actual "sensory" difference or simply one of perception of that makes sense? I'm not sure how you'd go about trying to check that either as it gets into some pretty wacky territory, can you be sure anyone sees colors the same way you do? Or do you all see them differently but just agree on the names?

I don't think there are structural differences between the male and female eye so I would guess the difference is more in how the brain processes the information.

I don't remember what did the research say - wether it was demonstrated by differences in the eye structure or brain structure - but I know it was a thing. A Google search can probably find it.

I’ll admit it, as unrealistic as them not knowing before hand is, the joke itself is pretty funny

Agreed, it perfectly used the (not incorrect) stereotype that men don't know (or care) about color differences.

Colorblindness is an X linked chromosomal trait and is significantly more prevalent in men than women as a consequence.
