Ok but they were banning people for the most insignificant mentions. Like

They were, until Elon took over, at which point people got more bold and started "misgendering" more often. Sometimes people caught bans if they got targeted, but even DailyWire people (who are careful about maintaining their SM accounts) have been doing it. I figure now this just makes it official and will reduce the bans even more. I'm sure some people will still get targeted and banned regardless, for various things.
