Everything about this makes me angry tbh. It's just exploiting a kid who thought he could get his mothers love through it. Them recording everything just makes me deeply uncomfortable too, even if he was trans it cannot be healthy to have the world see your intimate moments.

Yeah, his being trans makes it worse. He's clearly been conditioned to see the world outside his bubble as dangerous. The show has scenes (clearly scripted) where someone walks by and yells a random slur, or his TiM friends get 'phobic' messages on their dating apps. He's made it clear on so many occasions that he doesn't have the emotional energy to be front and center doing 'advocacy' work like his Mommy and brother, yet every intimate detail about his life is on display for the 'haters'. It must feel incredibly vulnerable.

Jesus. I'm aware of Jazz but never watched the show. That sounds like an even more fucked up, nightmare version of The Truman Show. Jazz might know that he's on a tv show but even still it sounds like his entire reality is being carefully crafted around him.

Genuinely seems like hell to me. He just needs to be left alone, I can't imagine the pressure is great for what is likely already poor mental health either. You HAVE to live up to it or you're letting down trans people everywhere by showing it's not a good route. You HAVE to be happy about it for the same reason.

This probably is going to end very poorly for him. Completely backed into a corner by the weird mother and the groomer cheerleaders. That clip with him trying to talk to his mother and all she kept doing was telling him “he was in his own way”, basically telling him it’s all his own fault he feels this way and he just has to push those thoughts down, it is almost as if the mother knows self-deletion would be a profitable way to end the series and almost certainly ensure that she stays in the limelight.

Poor guy must feel like he has no choice at this point. There's no going back. My heart breaks a bit for him that this was allowed and on top of that allowed to be broadcast in a way that feels like he's a prop to his mother and that he can't disagree or he lets every trans person ever down...

It’s very cult-like. You have them telling vulnerable children to disconnect from their families, that they’re their new “sparkle” family (even troons like Buck Angel, whilst claiming to be rational, does the whole “tranpa” schtick), that only the in-group will understand, the love-bombing, the threats of suicide/self-harm, that anyone that offers a counter-narrative is a hater and ‘phone, that detransitioners weren’t really trans to begin with and anyway they’re really really rare.

There’s a PhD thesis somewhere in this shit when it all comes crashing down and the world finally wakes up to how insane it all is.

It just worries me. How many more Jazz's are there that feel like the trans community is the only place they belong? How many won't speak out or detransition because they don't want to lose the only people that are left after having cut off everyone else?

Jazz's being public will be good for a case study but it's horrific as an ongoing thing. Good for the court too if it ever goes anywhere I suppose...

Lots but often through self-suggestion.

Scientology does the same thing.

Most cults do.

It's almost certain that a cult will attempt to replace the social circle of whomever is entering. Done through a variety of ways, dietary rules, alcohol prohibitions, declaring some inconsequential but regular part of life to be immoral. Partly because the cult has to compete for the attention of it's adherent, but also because cutting the person off from all other social circles means that the cult can then exploit them more. It all comes down to money. And how much they can collect.

In this case we see a child essentially tortured and abused on television for the entertainment of the masses and the profits of the network. It's like a modern colosseum where we go pay to watch people get maimed.

The colosseum was more morally defensible though as slaves fighting each other in deadly combat was a far more honorable activity than torturing children.
