"It is suggested that the human brain is only capable of maintaining meaningful relationships with a limited amount of people. Anyone outside of our personal monkeysphere are just one-dimensioned characters who we cannot conceptualize as people. This basically goes for the rest of the 99.99 % of the world’s population that are not included in our own social sphere. Meaning, we do not have the physiological ability to actually emphasize with the entire population of the world. Sure, you may sympathize with people who are going through a hard time and feel bad for them. But, in order to share mirrored empathy with people they must be considered as more than just a faceless mass."

A lot of conclusions being drawn off of a 'suggestion' don't you think? I wouldn't as much call this something that you 'learned today' as it is, "food for thought". One being a fact, the later being opinion.

Truth is I already knew about the monkeysphere, but I didn't know which sub to post this in. Is there a 'food for thought' sub? I'm still trying to find subs to join.

I like the 'whatever' sub. To many subs only creative division.

Given that reality, I just wish our social circles were something more real than online communities formed by taste.

By real, I mean geographically together. People actually able to (and willing to) help each other out.

Social justice is a form of discrimination in any left or right variable because it makes an assumption outside of the variables of the visual and assumes what any given group wants based of incomplete data.

Not that it's neccesarily wrong, it's more of a case of getting the most accurate data to make the best judgement that you can. No one can know everyone so allong the lines sacrifices will be made even if it is by accident.
