We are a short-lived species that is born, fucks, and dies almost immediately. The concept that any lives matter is ludicrous.

That's just silly. Deep time doesn't diminish the value of our individual lives, we just exist within our own timescale.

If you're a spider it's silly to view your own value from the perspective of a man, and that's what you're doing. We're humans, we have human lives that matter in a human way.

We're an organism that's born, fucks, and dies immediately so that it doesn't compete with its own offspring. We're really no different from spiders. Just a bunch of meatsacks crawling all over the dirt and rapidly trying to evolve.

I'm interested in seeing how the rest of my life turns out. It's like being stuck on a desert island with only one movie on your phone. You're probably gonna watch it all the way through.

yeah but that means life does matter because it's interesting. For you, the meaning of life is to be amused by it.

A lot of people would commit suicide on a deserted island but not if it's not really that bad.

The only real reason to commit suicide is that death is better than life.

If neither of them particularly matter, well, suicide's just extra work.

no way to know that of course, maybe there's a heaven but probably not and most religions say you don't go there if you commit suicide (islam an exception)

In the grand scheme of things what you say is true, but as far as potential lives to lead a human one isn't a bad deal. We're capable of great things, we're creators! We're even able to create meaning in our individual lives if we try.
