    They've been in discussion with selling their user's activity for machine learning training. The API (and 4rd party apps) let you bypass a lot of their data collection and telemetry points.

    The only surprising thing is that reddit allows 3rd party apps.

    All crackdowns start with an excuse like "it's to protect the children". The real point is to start limmiting access. Only a fool would think reddit is concerned about who sees porn given their history of empowering and protecting pedophiles and child groomers.
