I’m a lawyer. I like a lot of aspects of being a lawyer and how it helps me shape the way I think about, understand, and influence the world. But coming from a lower socioeconomic status, I knew that certain paths would be closed off to me. I was able to lift myself out by becoming a lawyer, but my greater passion would be as a historian. I’ve thought about making that my second career but I fear I’m still a long way off and I don’t know that it would even be possible at this point for all the same reasons as before.

Hahahaha I am just an utter nerd and I also prefer to be behind the scenes, being the brain not the face of an operation.

IRL though I don't really look like or seem to act like a brainy nerd when people first meet me because I'm a very silly, downright ridiculous, and also adventurous human being. Pretty much everything about me seems like a contradiction. I do tend to thrive on being underestimated though, so that's good.

That's awesome you were able to lift yourself out, congrats dude.

edit: Also, I am unsurprised you are a lawyer, your writing/argument skills are impressive. Checks out lol.

LOL yes you've been paying attention. I can't hide when I reflexively put things in bullet points and also number lists I've written within paragraphs. I just naturally over-analyze everything to death and love breaking down and building arguments, figuring out the inner logic in everything, stress-testing theories, categorizing things, and constructing narratives. I'd rather get things right than be right.

You sound like you could be a great historian too. It's never too late!

Hey, I'm with you on organization! It really helps get the message across.

I enjoy being right and getting things right, to only a limited degree each :P

It is really interesting to put together a coherent picture of a pattern in a topic, though. Often the implications or language a person is using give the biggest hints as to what is really going on.
