Trans rights groups said that the proposals risked having a “chilling effect” on free speech.

Since when do TRAs care about free speech? They're the ones no-platforming, banning, cancelling, and censoring people all the time.

Yeah, the group that uses the police to harass women over Tweets whining about free speech is just stupid. I hope no one takes them seriously.

Groups opposing freedom of speech always believe that speech restrictions will never apply to them. It's part of their overall short-sightedness.

Damn, what's with the UK being reasonable all of a sudden? The adults finally seem to be in charge again and it's great to see. Hopefully this law gets passed and these grooming creeps get locked up.

It seemed like the UK went way harder on the insanity much faster than other countries so this might be a whiplash effect. The TRAs got so much of what they wanted so fast that it peaked the public hard.

So this is just the same thing they were proposing before, roping in "gender identy" as part of conversion therapy.

But using that as a weapon against Mermaids? That's clever! That's a hot take!

That's the part that concerns me because doctors used to try to treat gender dysphoria and only recommended transition as the last resort if other treatments didn't work. And even then, transition doesn't have the best track record in terms of outcomes. I guess this law doesn't apply to psychiatrists. I wonder if it applies to people like teachers who might encourage young children to think they're transgender.

Overall, I think it's a bad thing. But if it does happen, then using this law against Mermaids seems like a good trick.

Oh FUCK THEM.

Meanwhile, people get in trouble with the law in the UK for "liking" anti trans tweets.
