Aw hell yeah. Thanks for the flairs! Hopefully seeing some of the lifestyle ones will help encourage people to post that kind of content. Also glad to hear about s/LGB.

Couple thoughts:

  • I do like that there is a flair specifically for "Targeting" as often, this helps pin down a specific tactic that TQ+ are using-- for example, using software to tag the usernames of anyone on Reddit who they deem "transphobic". I think a general "Homophobia" flair could be useful, but it also seems like an umbrella term, so I'm not sure-- a lot of the content on here could fall under the term "homophobia" and it helps to be specific (child transing because the parent doesn't want a gay son? a million dick pics on a sub purportedly about lesbians? "LGBTQ+" lobbying groups pretending to speak for all gay people? etc.)

  • I like "Corporate Pandering" as a flair. With regards to the woke crowd doing it-- are you thinking like, someone who believes in transgender ideology making a blog about "here's why we need more kweer characters in this kid's show!" type of thing?

  • Will all the Lifestyle flairs have the same color as the original lifestyle flair, light green or whatever? Might help with reducing visual clutter when someone is trying to pick a flair.

Exactly, trying to encompass that as well!

Will all the Lifestyle flairs have the same color as the original lifestyle flair, light green or whatever?

We haven't come up with a color scheme yet, figured we should wait and see what people think about even adding any of them first. Making them all the same shade would certainly make things easier for us! lol

Also, just to keep everyone in the loop ... we're FINALLY getting closer to opening s/LGB! So do keep that in mind as well, some of this may be redundant or just unnecessary given that.

I think a sub for LGB stuff but not tied to the single issue of"Dropping the T" would be a good thing to have and might attract even more people.

Corporate Pandering - this may not be the right phrase to encompass what we're going for. We don't mean it to be JUST about corporations turning something unrelated into waving the LGBTQ+ flag for clout, but also about the woke crowd doing it too. Any ideas here?

This would be "Virtue Signaling"

YES! That's it!!!

I agree, that sounds like a perfect catch-all.

This all seems a bit unnecessary. I mean... considering the content on this sub, is anyone EVER gonna use "gay finances" tag? I don't think so. I'd also rather not have a positivity/wholesome tag because that promotes low effort circlejerk posts, like the stuff you see on Reddit LGBT subs. I benefit from actual discussions. I get nothing from "UWU BEING GAY IS VALID! BEING HOMOSEXUAL IS WONDERFUL AND UR A SPECIAL GLITTERY SNOWFLAKE~". It's just cringy

There needs to be something to counterbalance the negativity somehow. We'll drag each other down.

You're right that a positivity tag won't work, though. "Positive" sections on social media sites always wither away anyway.

You know the benefit of post flair? You can see at a glance that a post is about something you don't want to read, and then you can skip past it.

We're throwing spaghetti at the wall here and seeing what sticks. Your critique counts in this discussion, but if you aren't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

How about some ideas of what you'd like? What do you want to see? In your mind, what would help balance out the constant discussion and negativity of the big-bad TQ+?

I notice that under rule 4, all forms of bigotry are disallowed except sexism. Can we get that fixed?

[–]NutterButterFlutterStill waving into the void[S,M] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

We didn't state it explicitly since its soft form is implied throughout several rules, but also covered by the broader explanation in Rule 4 of "derogatory comments that divide our community".

We're not going to maintain a glossary of all possible -isms. I can make an FAQ stating so, but some common sense in interacting with a mixed-sex community is required. Women need to remember that men are welcome here, and men need to remember that women are welcome here, and neither should shit all over the other.

We're all allowed to have our individual beliefs though, even sexist beliefs, and express them in a civil and respectful manner that doesn't drag down the Pyramid.

All sexism, all day. Get with the program 😆
