Right, I was going to make similar comment.

If they were previously "OK" with homosexuality, they wouldn't use the trans parade as an excuse.

I grew up similarly with very religious family background. They might be "ok" with some homosexuals(ex. Think celebrities like Ellen Degeneres, my mother likes to watch talk shows ...or singers from my mother's home country) But if their OWN child is homosexual/bisexual then they will strongly disapprove and come up with excuses why. In my case, it's due to religion that being homo or bi is "immoral". I almost got kicked out of the house for "looking gay" when I was merely a young teen.

They don't know I'm bisexual now, and I don't feel the need to really tell them based on my situation. Then all I'll hear is them lecturing me and saying I'm "confused" even though I'm a grown woman. Though, at the same time, I don't have to worry about my parents since they hardly talk talk to me unless they need something from me.
