It's incredibly childlike too. Threatening suicide doesn't work with anyone outside of your immediate family. If someone came up to me and threatened to kill themselves if I didn't give them my car, do I really need to say what my answer would be?

While I'm in complete agreement with you about how someone should act in this situation, I think there's a notable minority of people who've let themselves be completely consumed by their feelings of empathy, to the point where their ego or sense of self-worth is grounded in it, who would actually let someone steal their car if they thought it would protect the thief from harm.* I'd estimate this to be somewhere between 2% and 10% of the population, but that's obviously just a shot-in-the-dark estimate.

Completely agree. This group of people is more likely to be easily bullied by the trans rights movement in other regards, as well. No need to victim blame, here. Trans rights activists shouldn't try to manipulate people with suicide threats in the first place.

Suicide threatening is very common tool in coercive control.

I know a woman, who wanted to divorce, but her husband threatened suicide and she stayed married on him for 5 more years.

I had a stalker, who threatened to kill himself if I "don't stop being lesbian and start dating him".

As someone rightfully noticed before - it is just a form of terrorism: "Do X or Z will die".
