Some of the comments are pretty based, which is nice to see. Never thought I’d see the day when people on askgaybros call transmen women.

Anyway, the brigading is never going to end. TRAs will try to subvert and takeover everything. They want everyone to submit to this ideology.

AskGayBros has always felt so based compared to ActualLesbians, sometimes I go to AGB to feel jealous.

Same tbh.

I'm bi not lesbian but I used to go there and not post in the good old days. The decline was painful to see.

Just curious, when do you think you started to see a noticeable change?

[–]deftoneslettucetomcat 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I personally noticed change in 2017, but I wasn't paying too much attention to the T at the time, just the lesbian parts. 2018 wasn't pretty, that's when there were a lot of lesbians with dissenting opinions getting clamped down on. 2019 is when I actively sought it out, and by then I think there were multiple trans moderators. Someone will have to back me up on this.

Thanks!! That's really interesting to hear. I wonder what drove the change...

There are many guys, who happens to be trans, that I find attractive. Additionally, seeing gay couples able to have biological children due to one being transgender is a practical benefit.

Are you fucking kidding me?

[–]Three_oneFourWanted for thought crimes in countless ideologies 14 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Except to have this benefit, every homosexual must limit their dating pool to exclusively consist of trans people. That isn't us opening up our dating pool to include those of the opposite sex, that's just forcing us to be heterosexual.

Considering how many homosexual couples are out there that want to have a child but are struggling or unable to go through the BS adoption process and can't afford other options, this is incredibly insensitive. TRAs always talk about invalidating someone's identity, but they're more than happy to rub in the fact of gay couples how they "could've had children if they just went with someone of the opposite sex" as though they likely don't hear that enough already.

One could say "a practical benefit" of being arrested in the US is that you'll get free food while you're in prison.

Is there a hate group I can join that specifically targets stupid people?

Amazing how this sub doesn't get banned and r/biologicallesbians was in the blink of an eye

[–]8bitgay 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

AGB is the biggest or one of the biggest gay subs on Reddit. And as much as AGB fights back against TRA, the sub itself isn't geared about it. Many of the threads have nothing to do with TRAs. And unfortunately, although AGB is notable for fighting back, if you look at the threads about TRAs there are almost always popular comments supporting TRA.

So I guess they didn't get banned yet for a mix of being too popular (so if they got banned it would be negative publicity) and not being too explicitly exclusive of transmen.

I think there's a larger chance of, instead of getting banned, the sub getting new mods. And that would be even worse, honestly. If the sub gets banned the users will have to find a new place, and will be made aware of the homophobia. With new mods, most users will simply get used to the new status quo, while dissenting users will be banned.

It sure is every homophobic family's dream that their gay son would have biological children.

We both quoted this within minutes of each other. It’s such a delusionally, self-obsessively insensitive comment.

[–]8bitgay 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Didn't notice you quoted it too!

And for sure, it's incredibly insensitive. We are often attacked precisely because we can't have biological children with our same sex partners. To say that a gay man or a lesbian woman can overcome this issue by "simply" getting an opposite sex partner is awful on many levels.

This is ex-gay therapy, pure and simple.

Wish we had a s/TransTheGayAway subsaidit for these types of comments. Maybe I'll start one...

To answer their question, no, they are not the only man to find women sexy. They are, however, no gay men that actually find transmen sexy.

That's not brigading. Just a handful of TRA. You'll know it when you see it though.

[–]reluctant_commenter 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh whoa. That's REALLY blatant. A quick scroll through the comments will demonstrate so.

Maybe we should start a list of blatantly-brigaded threads like this one...

Good trolls have an entire character, backstory and strategy to milk your amygdala. This guy is just taking the shotgun approach like any other third-grader on his first iPad.

I still feel pissed that all the true lesbian spaces got taken down in the ban wave but male gay spaces (and lesbian spaces for straight male gaze aka r/lesbians) are still up and running fine. I mean, I don't want mens spaces to be taken away from them either but it just shows how antiwomen reddit is and it makes me so mad.

Another day, another trans post on AGB.

Another day, another rage porn "LOOK AT THE TRANS ON AGB" post on this sub.

We get it, it's been going on for ages. AGB will most likely be banned or taken over. That's just how reddit is. Sorry, but posting the exact same thread 50 times a month is not very productive, for discussion or otherwise. It doesn't solve the problem.

[–]lazy-summer-godSuper Gay[S] 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Just because you don't find it "productive", doesn't mean it isn't productive. I think it's important to provide fresh examples of what we're struggling with, not only to remind ourselves what's at stake but also to show newcomers what LGB communities out there are going through.

I find confusing how you felt the need to go out of your way to note how you don't like this post. It's not like anyone is forcing you to interact in any way with each post that shows here. It's also not like this saidit is choking with content and I'm drawing attention away from it, or that I hid in the title, that this is another part of AGB brigading.

Maybe you should take your frustrations elsewhere.

[–]8bitgay 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I wish we had more variety too, but I don't dislike these posts, for the reasons you mentioned. Numbers matter, visibility matters. An argument TRAs often make is that "no one says this", "only a dozen of people think this way", etc. Some days ago I showed a friend a typical "gay men are attracted to masculinity, not genitals" tweet I saw and he just said "it's just some random guy with 130 followers". Nevermind all the other popular people saying the same stuff.

Like it or not, this sub is one of the few archives we have of the anti-LGB discourse we see.

[–]reluctant_commenter 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Just curious, what content are you mainly looking for from this sub? I'm trying to get a sense of what people like.
