Raymond Holt (Brooklyn 99, for those unfamiliar) is a great example of a gay character. Being gay is part of who he is, and we see throughout the series that being a gay cop hasn't been easy, but being gay isn't the focus of his character, in any way. He's not an exaggerated stereotype and he doesn't feel tokenistic.

Exactly!

It would be better if people come up with the character FIRST who happens to be gay instead of going "I want to make a GAY character. How can I make this character GAYER?" Like, no, no no. We want a GOOD character.

They do this same shit when writing female characters(ex. "Strong Girl" trope, "Mary Sue" etc), but I won't even bother getting into that.

I haven't caught up on it, but how did you feel about the reveal that Rosa was bisexual? I stopped watching the show around the time when she came out.
