“I’m bi, does this mean I can pretend to be lesbian?” would’ve been a more accurate post from OP.

Nah, this is another example of a heterosexual woman trying to convince herself she’s a lesbian because of all of the LGBT grooming propaganda out there (which I’ve come to realize is an actual thing). She’s trying to force herself to be attracted to women and isn’t, whereas she freely admits that attraction to men comes easily for her.

I once bumped into a woman on reddit who was attracted to effeminate men, trans-women (only because they're effeminate men), and NB / androgynous men. She said she was 18 but sounded younger. Wtf is going on here? Is this some weird version of autoandrophilia? E.g. they attracted to the idea of being male, so they have some sort of pseudo-bisexuality? Or maybe, they're intimidated by men and find relationships with women safer and more familiar, and this is the safest way for them to be attracted to men.

From another post by the op:

I like girls. I’m not sexually attracted to them but just find girls very attractive and just overall better. I have watched lesbian porn and found it nice but not extremely arousing. Anyways, I think I’m 90% attracted to girls and idk about the last percent. There are some boys I’ve found cute and have thought about dating but at the end of the day I’d rather be their friend.

But to conclude, its just weird how I don’t get that same butterfly feeling for girls as I do boys. I know i like them but I just cant wrap my head around it.

Weird how I don't get that same butterfly feeling for a member of the same sex, like I do for members of the opposite sex. How strange for a lesbian like myself!

I think maybe she should just get off the internet and go, idk, live life or something.

99% of r/lgbt needs to get off the internet and get a life

jesus. lots of my straight girl friends can also appreciate the beauty of other girls, but that don't make them lesbians. OP is straight as hell.

[–][deleted] 20 insightful - 2 fun20 insightful - 1 fun21 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

oh 100%. I think she's young and just needs to do some growing up. It peeves me though that there are adults on there telling her she's a lesbian, or that there's these really bad ideas going around that gay is some fluid kind of label, and that lesbians can like men etc.

Haha, for me it's the opposite-- so I must be a straight woman then!

Hey what's up! :P Yeah, college has started and I've been much busier than before so I don't come here as often. Hope you're doing great as well :D

Mostly this. Scared of "chads", sexism, revenge porn, the "bros before hos" attitude, so into men who (she thinks) won't betray her (haha fat chance, men who perceive themselves to be failures as men are the worst perverts). This is everywhere on teenage twitter. I mean, South Korea's export is 20% semiconductors and 80% softbois.

I think we should take a moment to appreciate the update: Update: i’ll just be identifying as gay now and won’t put a label on it. Thank you to everyone who gave me great advice! All the Terfs can suck it.

... because gay is no longer a label. claps.

It’s an accessory. I read a comment from someone in gen z at some point saying that most people in gen z literally see being lgbt/queer as an aesthetic and nothing to do with anything else. It makes sense, except a surprising number of the people into this are also millennials or gen x and even boomers.

if you have to ask the internet permission to call yourself a lesbian then chances are you aren't one

[–]reluctant_commenter 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think people just shouldn't ask others on the internet what sexuality they are. How am I supposed to know? All I know is what someone tells me.

Many people here are quick to assume a sexual orientation when really it could just be a fetish at play (in a relationship with a trans person)-- or vice versa. Or.. perish the thought, emotional abuse may be trapping someone in such a relationship. The "trans widow" blog talks about that.

"Someone else identifying differently doesn't change your sexuality" LMAO so by their own logic, it's totally valid for a lesbian to reject a man even though he's decided he's something else. Glad we could clear that up!

My favorite was the "androgynous" part. Like, am I a lesbian if I like women who are "androgynous". That question makes me think that she doesn't know any real life lesbians.

And of course, I was banned from the sub for my "lesbians are adult human females" comment, and the sub has now made the mandatory "Terfs aren't welcome here" post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/comphet/comments/jksgvt/this_is_not_a_terf_safe_sub_nor_will_it_ever_be/

As usual, telling anyone that they aren't a lesbian (especially males) leads to the obligatory silencing.
