edit: Lupron is a puberty blocker, not direct administration of estrogen/testosterone, whoops.

Yep! Or at least Lupron, one specific HRT puberty blocker drug, does: https://khn.org/news/women-fear-drug-they-used-to-halt-puberty-led-to-health-problems/

Osteoporosis in your early 20s. What a time to be alive.

Lupron is a puberty blocker. It was created as an advanced prostate cancer drug and is used to castrate sex offenders.

And yet they're giving Lupron to gender-confused kids with the horrible outcomes reluctant_commenter noted above.

HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for transgenders (natal males) shouldn't be referred to as HRT, because AFAIK, transgenders are not replacing hormones - anyone more versed on this who can clear it up?

Whoops, my bad, thanks for the catch. I need to read more about the distinction between HRT and puberty blockers. I thought puberty blockers were a subset of HRT drugs, but I'll check that first.

I think they are being given hormones though, directly... testosterone for the women, estrogen for the men (trans-identified males). Whether they SHOULD be is another question, but I have certainly seen many people on reddit talking about how they are on estrogen or testosterone.

Fun fact: I believe the most common estrogen pill taken by trans women is Premarin, which comes from the urine of pregnant mares (female horses). It is otherwise used by women for relief during menopause.

Yep. Interestingly enough, Wyeth lost half their sales of Premarin and Prempro (from about $2 billion in 2002 to about $1 billion in 2006) after the WHI report came out showing increased cancer risk from taking HRT for menopause. (Wyeth has since been acquired by Pfizer) Luckily for them, they've found a new customer base who consider it a civil rights issue to be able to take it!

Also fun fact: the name Premarin comes from Pregnant Mares' Urine

This history is just another tidbit on why I think we are fucked from all ends on the trans issue in the U.S. Pharma will not give up this customer base without a fight. It is also why it makes me want to bang my head into the wall that Bernie, AOC, etc. is so aware of the death grip of Big Pharma, but they are ignorant about it here. Dig deeper, people.

I think part of it is that most people would agree that, say, getting people hooked on opioids for profit is bad, but the gender transition stuff is presented as being an imperative for people with a debilitating condition, as well as a civil rights issue of nondiscrimination in health care, and most people just kinda shrug at it because they assume it's just an adult making their own personal choice. If it were spelled out in plain terms how they are treating patients as guinnea pigs for experimental surgeries with high risks of complications and little recourse and giving children chemical castration drugs that are already known to be harmful to them and hiding behind "rights" in order to do it, they would lose public support nearly overnight. (I suspect the devout TRAs supporters would take longer to come around, they are so indoctrinated) I think the key is just awareness. When the opioid epidemic whistleblowing came out, the American public was horrified. For this, it's just a matter of time until the public realizes what's going on behind the scenes, and it's gonna take years before the story breaks in the US and the class action lawsuit start rolling in
