I don’t know if this counts as censorship, but here’s something from real life this week. I was walking down a hallway at work yesterday and saw a woke coworker from another department. She looked perfectly fine. Upon seeing me, she became visibly upset and quickly shoved past me in the hall. The only thing I can fathom that may have caused this reaction was that I had marked one of JKR’s Strike novels as read with a good rating on Goodreads the previous day. Seriously, I never post opinions on social media and I don’t talk about anything controversial at work. I cannot think of anything else that would’ve caused such a reaction. But, I suppose that’s where we are in TRA land—being dramatic and rude to colleagues because they read a murder mystery.

If someone confronts you about enjoying JKR just say that you never heard about anything she did and ask for the person to explain the issue. They'll probably have trouble explaining since most of the negativity towards her comes from people who haven't even read what she actually says.

You can also play along and say that you'll start boycotting everything related to Harry Potter. These people might say they hate her but they love finding excuses to keep enjoying her creations. A couple days ago when that new Harry Potter game got announced it was quite funny to see the pro-TQ+ gamers working hard to find reasons why it's ok to buy and play the game even though they hate her so much.

When the game gets released I think it's only fair to remind the pro-TQ+ gamers that they're giving money to a "transphobe".

Playing ignorant is oddly brilliant. Being a librarian, the confrontation is inevitable. I was planing on being blunt and saying, “I really don’t give a fuck.” However, your idea will be more interesting.

I mean, you already say you don't use social media, and this whole drama started on twitter. You can even use it as an opportunity to point out that you never read anything JKR might have said because you don't waste your time with social media.

Perhaps it doesn’t count as it’s no sub, but I have 3 fb accounts on 30 day bans. Most for very trivial things nobody would ever get banned for. I love 2020. 🤮

I got banned from r/news for writing a description of a struggle session in China during the cultural revolution. Hate speach apparently. It was very weird.
