I can't relate to the mentality either. Even if it was "bigotry", so what? If I was head over heels for a woman who didn't want to date me because she sees me as less than human, I wouldn't beg her for a chance. I would be concerned with how I fell for someone like that in the first place.

Their mentality is one of entitlement and male socialization, especially in a heterosexual context. They view women as coveted objects, prizes to earn. They're angry because they think they've been denied the fair shot they feel entitled to. It's the incel/nice guy "why won't these uppity bitches give me a chance" mentality.

One time I asked out a woman I’d been crushing on for a while and her response was, “Oh, no. Sorry. I don’t like gingers.” My response was, “Oh, okay.” Then I moved on with my life and, a few weeks later, asked a woman who was into redheads out to dinner. (She said yes and we ended up dating for a while.) I didn’t whine about it online, demand the first woman pretend to like my hair, or dye my hair blonde and claim she had no reason to say no.

A decade later and I still feel like that is the sane response everyone should have upon facing rejection.

You mean you didn't blast her all over social media on how she's a gingerphobic bigot? Wow

Um, excuse you. I identified as blonde and threatened to kill myself if everyone around me didn’t pretend my Weasley-red hair looked exactly like Marilyn Monroe’s.

This reminds me this chubby guy who went complaining about fatphobia on social media because I "rejected" him. Funny thing is that I didn't even reject him, I simply wasn't available the day he asked me out. I found him attractive, but that was a huge red flag.

I honestly have a thing for gingers. Pardon me. XD
