Ah, it is HBO one, so should be there. Sadly it is not available in my country, so I will need to sail a boat.

On my previous job I had a person from Chechnya, who run away just few weeks before missile bombings of Grozny. Horrible stuff.

Jeez. Hoping they're doing well. The thing is even after emigration the going is so tough. The recent news of Sarah Hegazy (she was persecuted in Egypt for being gay) was completely devastating. As someone who had to emigrate temporarily I know how alienating it feels being in a foreign country, add being gay/lesbian on top of that, add history of abuse (in Sarah's case) and it's just... No words. That's why LGB spaces are so important! I just want to say that for many US and Canadian people their local gay bar is a great meet up place and maybe not more, but for exchange students, for imigrants or just for a gay tourist this may be the first place of normality and the first place of safety they ever experienced. I will forever love Ireland for being that welcoming place for me and giving me a second family even though I'm back to my homophobic country now.

Edit:spelling

Well, they ran away before that happened, so they are pretty fine.

And yeah, I've never been to any lesbian (or gay) bars, so not even sure what it even is.

It sounds like you are one of the trailblazers who just got on with their lives through hell and high water. I just meant to say that lgb spaces, even though they are not for everyone, can be a great place to just feel good and be among your people for once. The simple stuff of having a good time with your gf at a party, without worrying in the slightest about anything. And for me, the best thing was enjoying the sense of community, just dancing our hearts out, almost as if in spite to the world and all the shit it throws at you. As I write this I realize maybe my idea of community and freedom is outdated and naive, but hell let it be so... Those were simpler times :)

Better "outdated", than woke!
