Some of the ones that are still advocating for the T have been in long term serious relationships and have missed the radicalization over the last few years. They haven't been in the dating scene and haven't heard the constant "lesbians must accept girl dick" etc. I know people who are trans slactivists (aka not much beyond social media posting about those "damn terfs/JKR") that would absolutely be considered "terfs" if they knew what they were talking about, basically. Hell I was the same way until I attempted to get more involved in the community and found all the drama

I was about to write exactly the same :) I considered myself trans ally by default and had no idea what's going on until recently
