Sounds like it could be a combination of both to be honest.

It could be, I remember she said her parents gave birth to a boy so he can have a son, there's a noticeable age difference between both her and her brother. I would have begun suspecting a bit more that she might be trying to get her dad's assets (as a joke), but she started claiming a few years after she said that in a post. I'm not surprised if what really happened that aside from shitty parents, she has felt oppressed in her suburb (although very unlikely, she lives in an area where our ethnicity is more concentrated and they're in a higher income bracket), she feels the unfair treatment from one of the important figures who she has no choice but to accept in her life (children, do not have the autonomy to remove people from their lives), because said figure wants a son, she goes to Tumblr and see all of these other injustices (or has noticed already and thought to go to Tumblr because art and social justice is her passion) which furthers her development and passion in fighting oerceieved social justices and with the whole academic achievements, some level of elitist attitudes (if the social justice thing hasn't given her a sense if superiority yet). I really don't know anything about her, I'm just basing off human psychology and looking at her life and coming up with a theory of what may have happened. Also she probably had no one important enough to discuss these thoughts with, which led to unhampered beliefs developing into beliefs which less based off logic and more based off emotion. Compare to me, I wanted to go vegetarian, and I expressed that, but I was drawn back by my older brother (he's a narcissistic, selfish asshole, but I'm not going to lie, he had some beneficial impact), by telling me how homo sapiens evolved and teased me a little with the taste of meat, its hard to resist rustic chinese cooking.

I think your assessment is totally fine though. Being able to do a little analysis even if it falls into more armchair psychology territory can be a beneficial thing to have to help better understand someone.

I don't have anything until I can talk to them, and have very little professional training (I have what has been largely helpful, just knowing how to reflect and understand motivation). It's still a nice exercise to do to remember they're still people.

On a side note, I think last time I checked, she said she wanted to be a psychologist and major in gender studies, it's been a few years, hopefully she has given up on that goal or the job market is that tight and she's only able to do blue collar work.
