Incarceration rates have been disproportionately high among transgender women, with estimates of incarceration history ranging from 37% to 65% in convenience sample studies (Brennan et al., 2012; Clements-Nolle et al., 2001; Garofalo et al., 2006; Reback et al., 2001).
