Do you not recall being a child?! Having boys around changes things... mostly I recall that they were noisy, violent, disruptive, inappropriate, sexually aggressive, rude... there were a few decent kind ones. No doubt they’d now be told that they’re actually girls.

I was a child back in the Cretaceous period, so my memory is a little foggy. :)

I do remember that I was a tomboy and played with boys until about 4th grade. Back in those days, I thought boys (and men) got to have all the fun, while girls and women were relegated to the home and childcare. I didn't want to have anything to do with girls, unless they were other tomboys. So, having boys around was just fine with me. Later on, I starting seeing and reading about the obnoxious behavior you describe, and how girls and young women often thrive in single sex schools, developing greater confidence before tackling the 'real world.' With this in mind, and never having had children myself, I wondered how if and how much trans-identified boys might change an all-girls group.

I went to an all girls' summer camp as a child. At one point, they changed to start allowing boys and male counsellors. Although there were very few men or boys there, it made a difference. The whole place felt different and all "we have to make the boys welcome" and all the songs were changed to include boys (even though the changes were awkward and weird) and I think the girls feel less comfortable, in general. That was the last year I ever went back.

I think there is a difference is behaviour with just one male present. I'll go look for the research. I believe I saw it posted on twitter back when Giggle was deciding whether to kick out the TiMs or not.

I doubt anyone is allowed to do that research tbh

If it changes the dynamic among women (it does), then it changes it for girls.
