I think it’s a little odd, though I do remember getting a mirror to look at mine after sex ed classes. That was more curiosity than anything else.

I looked at my vulva with a mirror to find out what it looked like in the old "Our Bodies, Our Selves" era of the 1970s. Many women back then did, and I've encouraged many girls and women in the decades since to do the same.

I also looked at my vulva with a mirror a few times after childbirth to see how the tears were healing. This was especially the case in one instance when I had to put a lit high-watt lightbulb close to my vulva several times a day to speed healing.

But never once in my life have I looked - nor has it occurred to me to look - at my vulva when sexually aroused.

Then again, I've never made a porno tape or watched porn, or had a desire to record or watch myself having sex, giving birth, breastfeeding and so on. Nor have I ever posted a "selfie" or photo of my kids, house, pets, meals, car etc online.

BTW, I am very happy to see that OP and others using the term "fauxgina," which is a neologism I invented.

I don't think looking at them is odd, but I do wonder about these (mostly men) who seem obsessed with their appearance. Prior to reading about fauginas and seeing men talk about them, it never occurred to me that there was a 'right' way for natural genitals to look. I know there's some women who have surgery on their labias, but even that seems a product of this same self-obsession and pro-surgery movement.

But this guy is talking about how his fauxlva looks when he's sexually aroused, compared to when he's not aroused. Which is a bit different to just looking.

Is it really common for girls and women today to look at their genitals when sexually aroused as well as other times so as to make comparisons between how they appear in different states? That's not a rhetorical question - I'm genuinely interested.

No, it isn't common, I've never heard of women doing this. I was only answering the previous commentator on it being weird to look at one's genitals, period. Curiosity is natural, but autogynephilia is an entirely different and entirely male creature.

Thanks for your reply. I am relieved to see your answer. I've never heard of women doing this either. But for a few moments there I feared that perhaps now that things like anal sex, being a "sugar baby," "camming," getting choked and slapped during sex with men, and shoving objects up the ass when masturbating are all now being pushed on young women in an attempt to normalize these practices, maybe it was becoming "a thing" for girls and young women to film and watch their own genitals when sexually aroused too. I guess with a "selfie stick" anything is possible.
