I have no idea how it works in the UK but in the US, I've read from respectable sources that the puberty blocker Lupron cost more than $1000 a month.

And yes, IIRC, a "transitioned" person is on hormones for life.

Wow, do they have to pay the thousand bucks themselves (or rather the parents would)? Or would insurance cover it?

I don't know but I've heard that some insurance companies cover transition, but I'm not sure if they cover for minors. It's more than $1000, more like $1100 - $1300/ month IIRC.

Hmm. This might just be the only case where I'm glad cost will probably prevent a lot of kids from receiving it
