This was a very interesting listen. The person in the video explains that they were depressed and when they worked together to take down a "hate sub" they became happier.

I really wonder what the mental health is like for these people who are so obsessed with taking down subs, especially since at one point in this particular video the AHS group was ok with using CP in raids...like wtf.

Not only felt happier, but felt like they had power. I think that is an important reason why a lot of these things are unfolding as they are. Banning any number of unsavoury people will change nothing. Ban one, a hundred more will spring up in the more shadowy parts of the internet where the rhetoric is even worse. What these young activists can't do is take on institutional power. Instead, they trust institutional power to tell them who the bad people are to go after. It's astonishingly naive.

Also the CP thing means these (no doubt mostly) men were searching for, viewing and downloading CP - which is illegal - in order to be able to spam it. Sure sound like lovely trustworthy people to me /s

I wish more professionals would clue into the mental health aspects of a lot of activists and TRAs (especially) and the overarching need and appeal of power. There are other ways to gain control and exercise your personal agency and going after people you disagree with and to whatever lengths you feel you need to? Is not it.

^ So much in agreement here. Watched the vid, and it was screaming "narcissist/borderline behavior."

God. That was hard to listen to. I feel like if I try to say anything I'll start crying. Do these people honestly believe they're on the "right side" of history, or are they just monsters and don't even care? Just so beyond disgusted.

Why can't people leave other people alone? Like, to certain people ANYONE they disagree with is a "hate sub." And shocking, this person was probably happy to end women's ability to gather and talk amongst ourselves.

this video was from a few months ago. I think this person at the time was in the process of de-toxifying from something she'd started to realise was pretty bad. Notice there's something in there about the group helping her realise she was trans. (She seems to have still been trans-identified at the time on the video). Looking at this person's twitter (I won't link it as I don't want to start harrassment), she seems to be a female-identified woman again now, and has a lot of GC/radical feminist tweets.

But yes, if you're going to support censorship, this is where is will end up. It's all a bit "I never thought the leopards would eat MY face!"

Because of the voice disguise thing going on, I wasn't sure. I did lean toward the person being female due to the immediate reaction against CP, which is pretty sad, actually. EVERY decent person should be anti-CP, but it's obvious after years in gender critical spaces that that is just not true.

There's a thread on againsthatesubs right now about brigading the banfemalehate sub and terfisaslur sub.
