I didn't know that about Australia. I would have thought you guys would already be totally vaccinated down there. But it looks like cases are very low, so maybe your government isn't pushing it as fast as some others.

Feels better with lockdown easing, less dystopian, huh?

Yeah, although to be honest, most of my restrictions were self imposed. My state was not one of the ones that had heavy lockdowns. Americans as a whole have not been as cooperative with staying home or masking up as they could have been. My partner and I were mostly staying away of our own volition, not going to stores much, no restaurants or bars, no indoor socializing. Not even much outdoor socializing. I went to an outdoor restaurant with a few friends to celebrate a few weeks ago, and it felt weird. That was the first time I'd sat down at a restaurant to eat since March 2020.

Kudos for self imposing a lockdown. Not much of a prize for something so rough but at least you get to know you were an active part of the solution.

Hope the celebration went really well, long overdue to be able to eat with friends!

Straya is uh..kind of a shambles.

Yeah, neither of us wanted to catch it. Plus I've always been rules-oriented, so it was no big deal for me to impose restrictions on myself and keep to them.

We had a nice time at the dinner. It made me realize how much I missed socializing in restaurants and bars. I still haven't been to a bar. Actually the restaurant was also the first time I've had a beer in ages. We never drink at home, so I almost forgot what beer tasted like.

TIL a new word:

Glad it was a good time!

Oh gods I’m so bad at using slang and forgetting that it’s probably not international!

Probably not a bad thing to not drink at home. My MIL has a home bar and it’s funny af watching her try to balance her balance amongst the booze shelves.

Ha, it's good, though. I like to learn new slang.

Yeah, neither of us comes from big drinking families. My parents only drank on holidays or on rare occasions if we went out to a restaurant. I experimented some in high school and college, but was never a fan of getting wasted. I prefer a mild buzz.

Same. I’ll go over six drinks in a night for a special occasion but otherwise it’s just drinking one because I like the taste. Can’t do beer though. Spirits or terrible sweet white wine plz.
