Trans-men don't benefit from the trans movement.

Are you a trans man, as in being assigned female at birth and publicly identifying as a man? I think trans men should be the one to decide if they benefit from the trans movement. The trans movement fights for the rights of trans men to get gender affirming medical care, to be able to use men's bathrooms and locker rooms, fighting discrimination against trans people, which includes trans men.

The movement prefers rights to be ID-based, rather than being based on trans-status.

In that case anyone who publicly identifies as a trans man or exercises trans rights (i.e. using the men's restroom) will be protected.

This approach throws trans-men under the bus, since men aren't a protected group.

Men are a protected group, and all trans people are.

Would any of them genuinely prefer to go to a men's prison (even "cis" men would prefer to be in a women's prison), or are they too busy thinking about pronouns to consider anything beyond the frivolous?

Many would prefer to be in a women's prison. I suggest you check out these threads on r/FTM about trans men and prisons.

Being trans in jail

FTMs in prison?

Trans and in prison...

Any guy ever went to prison or jail?

no one is stopping trans-men from using men's locker rooms & bathrooms. The trans movement is androcentric & so advises that trans-men medically transition way too early. The vast majority of detransitioned people are female – how did that happen? The movement is failing trans-men, as well as GNC women.

Men are a protected group

lol no, men are not a protected group, therefore trans-men's rights being tied to their preferred sex takes away their sex-based rights & replaces them wth nothing.

Well, how is chanting "trans-men are men" going to help their cause, since "trans-women are women" is used as a justification to house trans-women prisoners in women's prisons? The trans movement is an obstacle should trans-men ever want to utilise their sex-based rights.

btw "assigned female at birth" applies only to intersex people, not trans people.

When is too early? Adults can make their own decisions and decide when to transition, and if they feel their dysphoria is severe enough to warrant medical transition then they do it. That said, FTMs are more likely to detransition due to the effects of testosterone which androgen doesn't have. Because testosterone is more potent, trans men usually pass better than trans women.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Program considers men a protected class.

Protected Class: The groups protected from the employment discrimination by law. These groups include men and women on the basis of sex; any group which shares a common race, religion, color, or national origin; people over 40; and people with physical or mental handicaps. Every U.S. citizen is a member of some protected class, and is entitled to the benefits of EEO law. However, the EEO laws were passed to correct a history of unfavorable treatment of women and minority group members.

I mean male prisons are dangerous that even cis men dont want to go there. You can still shout "trans men are men" and advocate for trans men to be put in female prisons. Maybe we can ask convocted trans men which prison they prefer and always give them the right to transfer to the womens prison if they request. With that said, we need to reform prisons so they focus on rehabilitating people and stop abusing people which guards do and allow staff to do.

It can also refer to biological sex, as it's frequently used in this context.
