I'm not sure I'd want to date someone who got overly worked up over any kind of politics.
The wife and I usually agree politically so it's not been a concern. She usually votes how I ask her to.
I think though ultimately you should date someone you have chemistry with. If things don't click then it's a waste of time.
And while I don't think there's just one soulmate for everyone, there are only so many people you will have good chemistry with. To reject someone for something relatively minor is foolish.
I think there's a lot of failed marriages because people put too much thought into their ideal partner and not just leave things to nature.

Absolutely man. You hit the nail on the head right there. Chemistry is important. I wouldn't date a woman who I don't have chemistry with even if we share the same political views.
