I suspect you support Israel killing children. I support neither, they are both murdering civilians. Islam and Judaism breeds hate like all religion, as an anti-theist I despise them all. Yesterday the report said Israel had just killed around 2500 civilians, around a quarter were children. Will you denounce Jews murdering Muslim children? Is your islamophobia showing? Intentional war crimes. Unnecessary destruction of civilian buildings and indiscriminately murdering large numbers of civilians is by definition a war crime.

I think it's a terrible idea not to defend yourself. All that does is embolden your attackers. That being said, the response should be measured. The US lost the moral high ground with it's invasion of both Afghanistan and Iraq. Huge waste of time, money, and most importantly lives. We should have treated 9/11 like a crime and leaned on the International Law Enforcement community to bring terrorists to justice. If we'd done that, we could have wiped out most of these groups with the aid of the civilized world, even Arab states.

The Israelis are poised to make the same mistake. Right now is the perfect time to force Palestinians to the table and make them give up the hostages and Hamas. Israel would not only retain the moral high ground, but also likely gain advantage in negotiations around Palestinian land.

I like the analogy where if a robber breaks into your house and tries to rob you, you can shoot and kill him, standing your ground. Killing them is worse than robbery of items. But you don't know for sure what will happen so you need to act quickly. Right now my criticism of Israel is that they are not acting quickly, it's been more than a week.

Your views are naive, there is no reasoning with palestineans, no bringing them to the table, try to be realistic about the options here. Just like there was no International law Enforcement community that could bring terrorists to justice. Be realistic.

The ordinary Gazans can't give up Hamas. They tried to rebel a couple of years ago and lost. They have no chance against them.
