I watch the TV show 9-1-1 on FOX and they had a tsunami that flooded peoples cars and houses. This was pretty much the scenario played out in the show. Person drowns from the flood and dispatcher on the line can't do anything. Phones also being waterproof now can last an hour+ underwater while the caller is already dead.

Cool timeline in this article though, attempt CPR after getting to her an hour and 20 minutes after she already drowned.

that helmet was crushed beyond recognition that means his skull was crushed as well. that kind of pressure on his head probably busted multiple large blood vessels. likely the adrenaline constricted the blood vessels briefly but as he stood there they dilated and he started to bleed out in his brain

my kid has been in swim lessons since he was literally an infant. if he fell in a pool at least i know even at a year old he could right himself and grab onto the wall at least for a short while. a lady came to my kids class to tell parents about silent drowning, her daughter was a teenager and on the school swim team and drowned during a swim practice within seconds and nobody noticed until it was too late. one coach can't watch over a dozen kids in a large pool all at once, always gotta keep an eye on your kid or make sure there are multiple adults around at all times.

next time you go to bed tell your wife to lay face down on your bed, then lie down on top of her. tell her that's how hard it is for a baby to breathe bellies down because their head muscles and diaphram/lungs are still developing. maybe then she'll get it

nobody in china wears seat belts because they didn't even have cars on the streets until the late 90s. they're about 50 years behind the US culturally speaking and it takes a couple generations to change just the simplest of behaviors. think of your grandparents and their old chevy truck, they never wore a seatbelt either did they
