https://saidit.net/user/211/ got banned a couple weeks ago and started using his new account elonmusk7.

Couple weeks before that he was using https://saidit.net/user/844/ which also got banned for advocating violence.

3 months ago he was using the name: https://saidit.net/user/orgias/ which is similar to his other 2 moderator names in blackpillonly, which I just banned, oorgias and ooorgias. Clearly alternate accounts. Clearly all the same guy.

Before that he used this account: https://saidit.net/user/incelnigga/

And there's way more than just those accounts I listed, it keeps going and going and going.

This person is here to make a mess of this website. Look at the post and comment history for all these accounts, it's undoubtedly the same person, and they always do the same script and cause the same mess.

Well most people under 40 don't trust the TV news, yet people over 50 seem to trust it like it's God incarnate.

So I think a similar thing will happen with the internet, probably anyone born after 2020 or so will have a general distrust of the internet because they never saw the 1990s trustworthy version that we got trained on.

Just like I never saw the relatively trustworthy TV news of the 1970s that trained the boomers to trust the TV news even though it's so obviously untrustworthy these days. Old trust habits once learned are hard to break. My 2 cents.

Certainly getting a lot of ads on saidit today. I just banned over 20 ad accounts activated today. That always happens when one of the highly-active shills has their accounts banned, I've noticed.

Yes and it seems to be a manual spammer that occasionally uses the scripts. I am almost certain he would be 1 step ahead of these lists, because the lists form in reaction to the activity which is always first, and his IPs are not limited to any range and change with each request. Making alternate accounts after you've been banned for advocating violence is not allowed. You've done that many times, and I'll keep banning the accounts.

Yeah I wish I could turn down just the timeout thing a bit without also turning down everything else. Unfortunately because we have the free cloudflare we can't make those fine adjustments as far as I know. We basically just have high, med, and low. And turning it down from high to medium makes the spam go crazy, like 5x what it is normally. So we kind of have to leave it even though it sucks and I hate it too

Try a different web browser and it might work easier. Not turning it off though, the spam will increase 10x and destroy this website. We've tried it. Not an option.

They just keep taking on different IP addresses until they find one that works. I actually built a system that auto-detects spam accounts and blocks their IP, but they change IP literally every single request, to a completely different IP in a different country. It's indistinguishable from regular traffic, especially since so many saidit users use vpns. It's a good idea, but at best it would only reduce the spam by half at most, and probably only for a few months until they find IPs that work and then it'll be back to normal. I used to block huge IP ranges and whole countries back 4 years ago or so, but it literally did nothing after a few days. The person or group generating most of the spam can mimic any IP address, they're not just using VPNs. Literally the only solution seems to be to look at what they post and ban them for that, but that's exactly the game of whack-a-mole we've been doing for months.

Most forums get around this by having paid staff that reviews all new things posted and they hand out user bans constantly. We have volunteers working at their leisure... which means we will never be able to control the spam unfortunately. It is what it is.
