There are different etiologies of dementia; dementia is just an umbrella term. Dementia is progressive but it can present differently from person to person and depending on the etiology of the dementia. (IE just because he can still read doesn't actually rule out dementia) Diagnosis is clinical usually with serial moca tests (or via autopsy). I think there's a strong case that he does have dementia; there's nothing to rule it out.

Yea, No one would have lost their life over insurance if the guy didn't commit murder; but sure blame the police for keeping the law on the roads. The guy had a warrant, no insurance, no registration. He and his vehicle had no business being on the road.

The mental gymnastics you have to do to defend the murderer in this case is kind of amazing.

Yes knives count as armed and knives are very deadly. 2016 a CHP in SF officer was stabbed in the torso and neck, nearly missing a major artery. Heck a few years ago an SFPD officer was sent to the ICU in critical condition from being hit on head with a skateboard. I think we tend to forget that a gun isn't the only deadly weapon. As for him going for a gun, I think they did end up finding one on the floor board.

Go search for and watch the Daniel Clary Shooting video without pausing or fast forwarding it. I think it illustrates well the unknown dangers police have to deal with.

Sorta with you. Honestly it was a bad situation made worse because he didn't comply. In hindsight did it warrant him being shot, Maybe Not. But in the moment, yea, You could argue both sides. Just look at the Daniel Clary shooting video, Almost the same scenario. As for bodycams they are prohibitively expensive for lot of departments. I know for the California Highway patrol ( State troopers), Only ONE office ( Oakland) in the entire state has bodycams for their troopers. Biggest problem is cost for storing all that video. How do you store hours of HD video for each officer, each shift, for years (which is required for evidence).

A lot of people were trying to push the narrative that what happened to George Floyd was a racially driven murder. But I think the point after watching the video is that its no longer obvious. The police put him on the ground because he didn't want to be in the car and they called for an ambulance. And it's not 100% apparent to me that the police has his knee on George's back/neck in a way that would compromise his trachea ( which is anterior and midline) or blood flow. The hard thing in court will be to prove that the police actively played a role in killing him; or did they just contribute to his death ( in conjunction with the opiates), or would he have just died regardless.

Are you confusing the job of Police with the Job of the DA?
