I used to eat cereal, now I have not eaten it in a good while and do not really wish to come back to eating it.

Shit's literally poison, so much goddamn sugar and whatever the fuck else in it, more like "Let them get diabetes".

So much out there labeled as food is basically low grade poison. Diabetes is a big one. I'd wager that a lot of our public health issues would go away if people learned to cook and took control of the ingredients they put in their system instead of relying on a for profit industry that's regulated by rules specifying how close 6they can come to poisoning the consumer without breaking the law.

The industry premise is that there's necessary levels of dyes, preservatives, chemical flavorings and sugars that we simply have to accept.

I think it's a bit deeper than that, people learning how to cook is one thing, but why do people buy all this junk in the first place?

Convenience, because of the lack of time and the sheer convenience of the food that is quick and easy to make.

People get into this cycle of being overworked and tired, then into buying crap convenience food that makes them even more tired and worst of all addicted to the damn thing.

You make good points.

AFAIC, where there's a will, there's a way.

Breakfast is usually old fashioned oats with raisins, cinnamon, blueberries. and local honey... and two large cups of black coffee. The coffee is a must. It enables me to impersonate a civilized human being for extended periods of time.

Work commands most of my waking hours during the week but I prepare a fair quantity (usually rice) over the weekend then mix with frozen vegetables and some butter and rewarm after work during the week. I usually accompany that with a couple eggs over easy or some chicken cooked up ahead of time.

I will heat a can of soup once in a while- chicken noodle- and loaded with salt and preservatives so if I'm in a jam and need something quick with minimal clean up.
