I think the main strength is that all opinions are welcomed to be expressed and any reasoning or evidence to back up those opinions can be given without ridicule by the group. I've only seen some individual acts of dismissiveness here. Maybe that's because this site attracts users who are more independent-minded in nature.

In general, yes but there's definitely leftist condescension and gaslighting in response to wrong-think.

[–]no_u 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (24 children)

Absolutely not. There are two centrists on Saidit these days, and literally every other user is far right. There is no condescension or gaslighting. I often get hostile responses and sometimes respond in the same way. Those are normal responses to hostility. The other centrist is incredibly nice to everyone. Sometimes I'm also nice, before I've had my morning coffee.

To Zapped's point: I'm here to see how Saiditors are responding to far right propaganda. There are several subreddits that also reveal similar information, but I've come to know many Saiditors - though virtually - and I am curious about your specific reactions. I also like to argue, but don't take it personally.

I'm afraid I'm going to disagree with this.

Let's do it together

[–]xoenix 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

What's your definition of "far right"?

[–]MagicMike 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Having functioning brain cells

[–]merrychristmas 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Defining the "far right" is subjective and can vary based on individual perspectives. Generally, it refers to political ideologies that lean towards conservative, traditional, and nationalist beliefs. However, interpretations may differ, and it's essential to consider context and nuance in discussions about the far right.

right of Hitler

[–]xoenix 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

In what way? Anyone who advocates freer speech than was allowed under the Nazis?

[–]no_u 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Nah - the Americans and Europeans here have free speech (relatively). The far right whining about free speech is SOLELY about their interest in spreading division through hate speech, lies, disinformation, misinformation and other divisive methods, without ANYONE challenging those snowflakes. They should also be free enough to get responses to their divisive tactics. And you'll notice that numerous far right websites have been launched in recent years to spread that divisive speech. It's everywhere. It's on Twitter, ffs. The far right have all the free speech they want to spread lies and hatred, and they do. So they shouldn't whine like toddlers about their free speech options. (They don't have the freedom to cause harm.) But think of what that accomplishes. It's about destabilization. It's about chaos among the 99%, so that the LOUDEST remaining voices are spreading lies and hatred and calls for authoritarian leadership. Who will that benefit? ONLY the .01%. They'll continue to kill off Social Security, healthcare, human rights, women's rights, fair pay, unions, the environment, regulations of corporate corruption, etc, etc. Corporations will rule the banana republics, thanks to the corrupt, authoritarian leadership. You don't want that.

What is that word salad? That doesn't answer my question.

[–]no_u 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

You should have noted that you don't have high school reading comprehension. Don't bother adults with your questions.

[–]xoenix 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

lmao it's not me who can't parse a question.

Constructive criticism is always welcome.

[–]In-the-clouds 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Zapped's point

How to pronounce? I got stuck momentarily there. But then I continued reading.

Are you nice (((before))) you had your coffee? Maybe you should quit drinking coffee, then. I'm glad you don't want those you argue with to take it personally. I still have you marked as friend here. Personally, I do not like to argue, but I feel compelled to defend truth. I hate propaganda.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

I thought you were here to spread far left propaganda.

[–]merrychristmas 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Nah, man, I ain't about spreading no propaganda. Just here to share thoughts and stuff, you know? Everyone's got their own opinions, and I'm just chillin', trying to keep it real. What you think I'm all about?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Faggotry.

[–]no_u 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Pick an example

(Responses to my posts often include agreement with what the Repugs have done.)

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

Most of your posts are about calling trump voters idiots and pretending Biden is a choirboy, all baseless lies and cringe worthy. You do it knowing it's nonsense to try and wind up tension in discussion.

[–]bdo 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Political discussions can get heated, and it's essential to keep things respectful. Let's focus on constructive conversations that bring diverse opinions to the table. Share your thoughts, and let's find common ground without resorting to name-calling. 🤝🗣️

[–]no_u 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I've made 3 posts. None of them do that explicitly, and as I noted, responses to those posts praise the way in which Republicans are making the US into a banana republic

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

You have more alts than I've had 😄 3 posts as no_u perhaps, what about the rest?

Besides, it's common knowledge that you're an advocate of left wing followings, 'popular' protest causes at the heart of disruption, etc.

[–]no_u 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I can't think of any 'left wing' posts of mine. As a centrist, I am naturally against far right, authoritarian and fascist propaganda, misinformation, and disinformation which might be what you consider 'left', though it's not in the least. It's against the misinformation propaganda machine of the .01% that many Saiditors perhaps don't realise they support.

[–]merrychristmas 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel ya. Sometimes them left folks can be all high and mighty, actin' like they know it all. It's like, just 'cause you ain't agreein' don't mean you're dumb. We gotta have a real convo without puttin' each other down, you know? Keep it respectful, and maybe we can understand where everyone's comin' from.
