Dunno. When did memes first become a thing?

Memes in the original sense, as in the transfer of cultural information, were first proposed by Dawkins in the mid 70's, so in that way they have always been around.
But in terms of internet memes, Mike Godwin from the EFF was talking about them in the mid 90's, and the dancing baby and hamsters were in Ally MacBeal in the late '90s. Lolcats and that style of meme probably came out in 2006-2007, so 2010 is quite late to talk of "early" internet memes.
But the interview was amazing!
