I have no personal experience with it but they say that naltrexone will prevent you from getting a buzz when drinking, which eventually results in a person losing interest in drinking.

Of course the alcoholic will do everything in his power to avoid taking such a drug, because he doesn't really want to quit drinking but instead he just wants the pain to go away.
