Yeah, they made an episode of Mayday about something similar to this.

It was a smaller reginal prop plane that was rated for a specific average weight per passenger. However, since it was put into service some 20 years before the accent the average weight of a passenger had increased like 30lbs. Over 40 people plus extra luggage and a full tank of fuel and the plane simply didn't have the power need to get off the ground. It stalled at a couple hundred feet and crashed into a hanger killing everyone. The excess weight was 100% the cause of the crash.

Since that accident the policy around weights on planes was tightened. Thank god the pilots and organizers of the flight gave though to the extra size of the wrestlers.
