Why don't they just build a dozen or so Panzer VIII Maus tanks and slowly drive over a mine field? More in general, why don't they just build something innovative to get through those mine fields?
It's not like CAD-design and AI shouldn't speed up tank design tremendously, right?
I have some other ideas to penetrate mine fields of 500 meters in depth (think: creating a highway width of space in two minutes, but I just don't get how they don't come up with anything innovative. Similarly for the mine fields between North-Korea and South-Korea. Mine fields of any fixed size can be defeated by good preparation.
Perhaps I don't know how a mine field looks like, but AFAIK, it's ditches, dragon teeth, anti-personnel mines and anti-tank mines. All of those can be easily defeated with the appropriate design.
