In a situation like that you don't think. You either react or freeze. It's like someone grabs your "game controller" and plays a perfect game. While you simply observe what your body is doing. It's quite a weird experience when adrenaline levels peak. Afterwards you sit there shaking for a solid minute before you can go about your day. Near death rules. That's why people get addicted to base jumping and stuff like that.

I have always been able to react quite fast, buy my sense of self preservation is pretty high. I would like to think I would do something like drop kick the guy in the face as much away from people as possible and hope like hell. At no point would my monkey brain even CONSIDER "hey lets hug this guy and both go in a blaze of glory."

I don't doubt you are right, fight or flight for sure, and one honestly does not know what they will do until it happens, but in a lot of my other fight or flight experiences, I remained decently calm and made snap decent decisions that either difused the situation( bad pun there really) or laid someone out. I would like to think I would be heroic, but I honestly think my self preservation in this instance would have me run like a bitch.
