Kazakhstan is the top producer of uranium, it generates about 40% of world wide demand. Canada is #2 with 13%. I feel like Canada could step up their production if they had to.

USA could step up production too, we've lots of it. The Russians that Hillary Clinton let buy the rights to it should do something about their strategic adversaries not having enough of a mineral mined on their adversaries' own soil LOL

I can see a benefit in buying natural resources from our enemies before we utilize our own. It makes us somewhat dependent on the resources yes and less independent in some ways, but it also makes them financially dependent on being able to sell the resources and therefore less likely to start a war as it would have strong economic impacts. Also there's simply the matter that if we buy up all their resources they have less and we still have ours.
