At this point it might not even be mental illness so much as predatory behavior.

You are actually a boy you need cosmetic surgery and drugs or you'll kill yourself.

Oh shit! Better do that since the people I trust are saying I should.

How would societies view on this be different if it was say, the South Korean standard, "You are soooo ugly nobody will ever love you unless you get a nose job".

Or maybe something that hits closer to home, hey kids a real man smokes Marlboro when he wants to have a fun night with the ladies.

The trouble is there aren't any good treatments for mental illness.

They just try to contain people until they can sort themselves out.
